Baran, Paul
Along with others at RAND, wrote an early paper on packet switching for secure voice communications. This took place at the same time as others were working on packet switching for data.

One of the original ENIAC programmers

Created the 5-bit Baudot code which was eventually replaced by ASCII and then by UTF-8.

Father of the World Wide Web, created an early web browser (among other things).

One of the original ENIAC programmers
Licklider, J.C.R.
Envisioned the "Galactic Network" concept in 1962. He discussed this with a group of people; the idea is very similar to the Internet.
